June 2018 My son Tim organized this multi-generational bike trip to celebrate my big birthday this year! Ranging in ages from 18 months to 70 years, we all rode the Galloping Goose on Vancouver Island together and had a brilliant time. In past years, I could never...
Sadly, every one of us knows someone who suffers from mental illness. We don't think that riding our bikes will be the cure, but in doing so we are hoping to increase awareness and raise money so that those who are in need of help will be able to get it promptly. Will...
In the spring of 2017, my husband, Dean, and I finalized our travel plans for a fall trip to Europe, which was to include one week at the Belvedere Bike Hotel in Italy. We had both been involved in long distance running for about 15 years and had a fairly solid...
Meet our Coaches
All of our coaches are NCCP certified and highly experienced endurance athletes.
We coach because we love to ride and want to share this passion with you.
As a Coach and Personal Trainer, my goal is to motivate people to find the time, energy, and the desire to value and take care of their mental and physical well being. There is no one single perfect exercise, training program, or diet that fits all. Every person is unique with their own obstacles, abilities, and expectations, and I treat each of my clients as such.
My personal fitness journey started when I was 16. I bought my first Trek road bike and fell in love with riding. I knew then that I would dedicate my life to fitness.
My career in the industry began in 1998 as a Registered Massage Therapist. Living in Whistler, B.C. fuelled my passion for outdoor sports, and I moved beyond the pavement into the mountains, skiing, mountain running, and mountain biking.
From 2001 to 2015, I raced competitively in mountain running, road running, road bike racing, xc mountain biking, downhill mountain biking, triathlon, and Ironman events. As my interest in racing and training grew, so did my education and I became a Personal Trainer and Performance Coach for Cycling and Triathlon.
With over 25 years of experience training and coaching athletes and adults of all ages, I have learned that there will always be more to learn about the human body and the connection between our physical and mental well being. Tjhe day we stop learning is the day we stop growing and improving.

As a 9-time Ironman finisher and 38 marathons (and counting) under my belt, I know about challenging myself to go the distance.
People often ask me what it is about training and racing that keeps me coming back for more. For me, race day is the icing on the cake. The day is a culmination of all my hard work, pushing my body to limits I never thought possible. I always tell people that if you want to race an Ironman or a marathon, you have to enjoy the training.
I also know that going the distance whether in life or in sport is about having a healthy mind and body. Helping people achieve a healthy mind and body through exercise is what led me to become a personal trainer and cycling coach.
My passion for fitness and training started over 25 years ago. But it wasn’t until I began working out with a personal trainer myself that I saw some serious gains in the form of strength, speed, and endurance. The strength training made me stronger and faster. And the many hours of endurance training helped me tackle the mental aspect of long distances.
Having a goal is what drives me forward and I approach my work with my clients in the same manner. My workouts are personalized to the clients’ chosen goals with special consideration given for any limitations or injuries. I strive to keep things interesting, challenging and engaging for my clients.
In my coaching role, my enthusiasm is fuelled by watching riders develop their skills and confidence over the season. The camaraderie of the group and sense of community can be a powerful motivator and seeing riders achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding.

I believe that with the proper training, nutrition, sleep, state of mind and injury prevention there are no limits to what anyone can achieve.
As a Mechanical Engineer, understanding aerodynamics, energy, power, strength and moving systems became my specialty. The human body is no different than any other system, it is simply more complex.
My athletic career started with competitive swimming. I didn’t pick up cycling until 2006 when I raced my first sprint distance triathlon. I was hooked and wanted more. I learned from swimming, that if I wanted to succeed in this new sport, I would need to change my training habits. My weekly training hours dramatically increased from a mere 6 to 24 hours, and that was on top of working a full time job. The training paid off and I went from completing my first sprint triathlon to being a carded athlete.
I represented Canada in the 2009 and 2010 International Triathlon Union Pan American Cups as well as the 2010 World Master Games in Sydney.
Hard work, consistency, attention to detail and strong technical skills set the foundation for my training program and they are the same standards that I coach by.
Besides working full time with the Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services and part time with Kits Energy, I also have an online bike coaching business called Peak Power Coaching, peakpowercoaching.com, training endurance runners and cyclists with Power Meters.

I started cycling competitively in Saskatchewan in the early 1990s. I was absolutely exhausted after my first 15km ride and also 100 % hooked. But Saskatchewan road racing proved to be a lonely sport in those days, so several years in, craving training partners and camaraderie, I moved to triathlon.
I raced triathlon as an enthusiastic age-grouper for the next 25 years. Along the way, I met a lot of great folks, including some fantastic coaches that made a big difference to me. I met Kristina during a Half- Ironman race. A few years later, we reconnected to talk about cycling, coaching, and the fitness industry. I joined the Kits Energy coaching team in 2016 and have never looked back.
Though I primarily work as a Project Manager for a small software company, I also work part-time as a Personal Trainer and Cycling and Triathlon Coach. I enjoy keeping myself active by teaching spin classes, leading tour groups with Magic Places, coaching riders in private lessons, and even teaching the occasional group fitness class.
I love helping people achieve their goals, or even better, achieve something they didn’t even know could be the goal.
